HIP HOP HOORAY! is a Theatre for Young Audiences experience to understand Hip Hop in an informative and educational way. This production is written by Breanna Taylor and Ashley S. Jordan, directed by Ashley S. Jordan. The one-hour and 15 minute show and talk back will be an exciting musical production featuring MKE-based talent which will take us through a flashback sequence from future to past to future. Through spoken word, beats, clothing, projections, featuring Grandmaster Flash & Queen Latifah as solid storytellers navigating each era/evolution of Hip Hop through time understanding the revolutionary, media, and technological influences Hip Hop/Rap has had throughout multiple cultures and in the world as we know it. Our choreographer Chancie Crump-Cole and Beats Composer Tyler Reynolds will take us through a musical voyage by creating stylized movement to original beats with similar lyrics and recognizable rhythms.
